Lodge Park Entrance (June 2007 - May 2021)
Oakmere Lodge Park was established in the summer of 2017 in the grounds of an old Plum Orchard. These images show the entrance back in 2007 and how you may find it today.
*Fun Fact*
A number of the original Plum trees remain to this day. Some of which are almost 100 years old.
Caravan Park Entrance (August 2008 - July 2021)
A hard standing roadway around Oakmere was first installed around the mid 1990s. This later became tarmacked in 2005. Prior to this vehicle access to caravans was limited to certain times of the year, weather permitting, across the grassed areas.
*Fun Fact*
Before the installation of the roadway customers would park on the main carpark and borrow a wheelbarrow from Oakmere to transport possessions to their caravans.
Caravan Park (Summer 2002 - April 2020)
Holiday Caravans have transformed dramatically over the years in both size and interior design with comfort becoming much more of a "home from home" feeling. Oakmere Park has always adapted to these changing requirements for the benefit of our customers.
*Fun Fact*
Years ago Gas mantles were used as a lighting source inside caravans and car batteries were used to power small electrical appliances. Oakmere park used to charge 1 Shilling to recharge a battery for customers.
Sales Office (August 2008 - July 2021)
A large Investment was undertaken by the Piercy family in 2016 when our new Sales Office and Park storeroom was built. This has now become the central point of contact for visitors and customers to “pop in” and chat to us.
*Fun Fact*
The old wooden garage had multiple uses during its time. From the 1960s it was a recreational room boasting a TV for customers on the Park. By the mid 1970s it became a storage facility for the Parks increasing machinery and tools.
Caravan Park (November 2004 - May 2021)
One of the biggest developments to our caravan park was carried out between the winter of 2004 and spring of 2005. In total 15 new fully serviced pitches were created with new caravans beginning to arrive from summer 2005 onwards.
*Fun Fact*
Prior to the area being redeveloped at the end of 2004 seasonal tourers would be pitched down the centre of the field. The 2004 season was the last time Oakmere took touring caravans.
New Developments (July 2015 - October 2020)
This area of our caravan park was completely redeveloped between the Winter 2018-Spring 2019 to accommodate the increasing size requirements of new caravans coming onto Oakmere and adding in new vehicle access roadways.
*Fun Fact*
This area was once nicknamed "Millionaires row" by our customers due to the fact in 1992 these were the first pitches on the site to have running water and electricity to them. Facilities we take for granted today.
